Love Island star Greg O’Shea is the latest presenter to step away from the Six O’Clock Show on Virgin Media.

Having presented the show for a year, O’Shea announced on air that his show tomorrow, Tuesday, will be his last as he follows Karen Koster in exiting the programme.

“Unfortunately I'm also going to be leaving on Tuesday with her,” he told viewers.

“I think it's the perfect time for the Six O’Clock Show to mix things up and try something new. I've learned so much over the last year I've absolutely loved it.”

He paid tribute to the “incredible people” on the team both on and off air, adding: “They really helped me to start from a complete beginner to where I am now — a novice!”

O’Shea said he will miss the show but “everything good has to come to an end.

“I can't wait to see where the show goes. Karen and I will be with you next week, Monday and Tuesday, and then we'll be passing the baton on to the new team.”

O’Shea echoed his on-air sentiments on Instagram, paying tribute to his co-presenters and “TV sisters” Karen Koster, Grainne Seoige, Zeinab Elguzouli, and Fionnuala Jay and said his highlights include “interviewing icons such as President Mary Robinson and superstar celebrities like Gok Wan.”

He added: “I’m looking forward to seeing the new vision for the Six O’Clock Show and whatever crazy adventure the future has in store for me next.”

Last week, Koster announced that she is leaving the Six O’Clock Show to spend more time with her family.

She told viewers: "I have had an absolute ball but I am really just saying goodbye because I have to be at home more with my kids."

The mother-of-three said she is missing too much of their day while in the studio in the afternoon and the evenings.
