Meningitis can present very rapidly with a child developing a fever, rash and rapidly progressing to confusion, unconsciousness and if untreated death. Thankfully, this rarely happens.

I’ve two children aged six and four. I worry about the possibility of them getting meningitis even though they got the Meningococcal B vaccine. I know it’s a rare illness, but I’d like to know the warning signs. Also, what can I do if one of my children gets ill outside GP hours?
