Legislation to allow for the creation of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) is due to be passed by the Oireachtas later this year.

The aim will be to protect at least 30% of Ireland’s seascape within MPAs by the end of this decade.

<p>The study examined how the area and quality of natural habitats influence the populations of wild bees, bumblebees, hoverflies, and butterflies. For all species groups, this simple relationship rang true: the more natural habitat, the more pollinators in farmland areas.
