Resistance training helps us all live longer, says CUH physio

Colin Clarke, physiotherapist in CUH, who is part of a group, including Jim O'Byrne and Elton Chambers, currently training for the 2023 London Marathon, and who regularly run to raise funds for Cork University Hospital.

There’s a tendency to associate men’s fitness with young, big and strong guys who have classic body builders’ physiques, honed at intense sessions in the gym. As a result, men often neglect resistance training as they get older.

So says CUH physiotherapist, Colin Clarke. However, he emphasises a number of benefits to resistance training in the older population.
