Diets rich in protein are linked to a lower risk of death from any cause, with a particularly strong effect for plant proteins including beans, lentils and nuts, research suggests.

Experts found that diets high in protein — particularly plant protein — could lower the risk of early death, while swapping meat for plant protein may increase longevity.
