This much I know: Angela Scanlon

That is the most important trait. If you believe in your decisions then other people will be willing to get on board.
In my line of work, you have to be flexible.
I am based between London and Dublin at the moment. I have an apartment in Dublin but I just rent a room over there. It’s fun travelling between the two although it’s expensive and I’m racking up air miles. It’s necessary because things are taking off in the UK for me in TV but I still have a lot of work on back home.
Having a work-life balance is certainly not my strongest point. Luckily, I really love what I do so it never seems too much like hard work.
I go to the fashion weeks and see the latest trends so of course I’m influenced by them but I don’t follow them slavishly. I adopt some of what I see on the catwalks and I also love incorporating elements of street style into my looks.
I wasn’t particularly into fashion growing up. I never considered a career in it. All I knew was that I wanted to work for myself, I didn’t know at what. Maybe I got that independent streak from my parents — my father is in construction and my mum did all the administration.
I was more of an outdoorsy kid, quite tomboyish. Although I did insist on black shoes for my Communion so I was always quite decisive. I’m still not girly at all when it comes to clothes.
I studied business when I left school and it did baffle me as to what I was doing there. But I’ve always been interested in entrepreneurship. When we were children, my sisters and I used to make cakes and jam and sell them to the neighbours.
I was quite outgoing and bright but my school reports reflected that I was also giddy and a bit of a messer. I got away with murder although I don’t think I was spoilt — there are four girls in our family, I’m second from the top.
I am not very organised and I am messy. Really messy. I have a lot of stuff and it tends to grow overnight. Things just multiply in my wardrobe.
My idea of misery would be having to get up and put on a suit and go to work in an office every day.
I’m a night owl. Working for yourself means you keep irregular hours. I love to hit the snooze button in the mornings but I’ve been training myself not to do so and trying to get up at 7am.
My best beauty tip is to take your make-up off properly at night! Sounds obvious I know, but... I recently discovered the wonderful effects from using serums as well as a moisturiser.
My favourite outfit is a really beautiful navy 1930s dress that I got in folkster.com in Kilkenny. It makes me feel so feminine — I usually just go around in jeans and a man’s jumper.
So far, life has taught me that the hardest thing is deciding what you want to do. Once you have made your decision you are no longer frightened by it and things become easier.
