Desire Lines: Denim jackets, facials and Christmas experiences
Some of what we're loving this weekend

Arboretum, the family-owned garden centre and lifestyle retailer, has just launched its Christmas gifting collection.
From Christmas trees to lights, decorations, food, and fashion, it’s your one-stop destination to embrace a winter wonderland this festive season.
This year, the team have even put together four themes for those looking to achieve an effortlessly tailored look.
Themes include Champagne & Mistletoe (uber elegant), Woodland Hearth (cosy and rustic) and Toymaker’s Cottage (nostalgia core).
And while you’re browsing, you might just find your next winter fit. We’re obsessed with this Karen by Simonsen denim jacket.
Perfect for layering during the colder months, and a standout piece on its own come spring. €169.

Voza Skin and Laser Clinic is making waves in Limerick.
Founded by skin specialist Melissa Ferguson — known as “the facialist” for her advanced facial techniques — the space combines serenity, luxury, and expert skincare with speciality treatments including BBL Moxi facials, the famed ‘Vampire Facial’, laser for skin and hair removal, and scalp and hair rejuvenation treatments.

A primary school teacher from Galway, Sallyann Concannon left the classroom to pursue her dream of starting a jewellery brand back in 2022.
Mettle & Bloom, which aims to celebrate women for their mettle, started with Concannon selling her design in up-and-coming spaces like Cork’s Marina Market.
Now, her own mettle has been rewarded as it launches in Brown Thomas Cork today.
To celebrate, there will be a free gift with purchase for the first 30 customers who spend over €50 today. We’d go for the To The Moon & Back Necklace, €95.
As you pop in, you’ll notice the Brown Thomas Christmas window has just been unveiled, a key moment in the nation’s Christmas countdown.
This year, the brand’s festive story centres around a most fashionable festive duo — Holly, the gifting maven with impeccable taste, and Jolly, a stylish pooch with the most enviable Christmas party looks in town.

It’s that time of year again. Wild Lights at Dublin Zoo is back for its seventh year, with this year’s theme, ‘The Wild Kaleidoscope’.
From dinosaurs to paradise birds, bugs, and flamingoes, there are 13 zones for kids and adults to explore, with an all-new Winter Glow village where you can enjoy pizza, crepes, waffles, even spice bags and açai bowls!
Plus, mulled wine and Baileys hot chocolate for the grown-ups. Prices from €26 for adults and €21.50 for children, with discounts available online and for students and OAPs.

Ensure you are the host with the most this Christmas by dressing your table in swoonworthy linens, from The Designed Table.
Founded by Tara O’Connor in 2021, the PR veteran draws on 30 years of planning events to create a beautiful range of table linens and accessories inspired by the Irish countryside. Our favourite from the newest collection is the burgundy and white stripe, a grown-up nod to candy canes.
Designed in Ireland by Tara O’Connor and made in India by artisan manufacturers, prices start from €72 for a set of four embroidered napkins; €32 for a set of napkin rings; €85 for a velvet table runner; and €25 for a quilted cotton placemat. Tablecloths start at €180 for a small table size up to €260 for a larger table.

There are still a few tickets left for the combined film screening and wine tasting at Ballymaloe Grainstore at 6.30pm tonight as part of the 70th annual Cork International Film Festival.
Rioja: The Land of a Thousand Wines, a captivating documentary directed by Emmy-nominated José Luis Lopez-Linares, explores Spain’s best-known wine and its legacy.
The evening begins with a glass of Rioja and selection of delicious Spanish and Irish charcuterie and cheeses with baguettes from Ballymaloe Bread Shed.
After the movie, you’ll enjoy a fun tasting of Rioja wines, hosted by Colm McCan and the Irish Examiner’s wine writer, Leslie Williams, offering a refined exploration of the region’s celebrated vintages. Tickets, €65.

We spotted this cardigan on RTÉ Today Show stylist Marietta Doran and had to stop her to ask where it was from.
The Joanne cardigan, complete with adorable multi-coloured heart buttons, is available in cream and burgundy from Friday’s Edit. €44.95.
