Wear It!

As seen on the street style set at London, Paris and Copenhagen Fashion Weeks, double denim is not going anywhere so if you want to embrace the trend then Salsa jeans have you covered.

A recent visit to their Portuguese HQ revealed a company on a sustainability journey with better practices such as laser finishing and waterless ozone washing used to create different wash effects and distressed looks.

Most of the finishing is done by skilled workers who also finish jeans for much more expensive premium denim and designer brands. Salsa has two standalone stores (in Liffey Valley and Blanchardstown) and a surprising 60+ stockists nationwide.

Best known for their sculpting push-up and push-in jeans, this season we love their relaxed and flared jeans, their Balmain-esque tweed jackets and their retro denim dresses and skirts.

Visit It!

If your little ones are dinosaur mad then there are two dino-themed events happening this Easter to have on your radar.

This week, there’s special Dino Roar fun at the Emerald Park theme park and zoo with lots of fun activities including dino meet-and-greets and a prehistoric exhibition (Dino Roar activities are included in the main ticket price from €39 per person).

Another event for dinosaur lovers is the new Dinos Alive immersive experience.

This walk-through, family-friendly event will entertain amateur palaeontologists of any age with over 80 realistic, life-size installations and moving dinosaur replicas.

The 45- to 75-minute experience will allow kids and adults alike to meet and interact with the massive T-rex, Stegosaurus, Velociraptor and more and there’s a ‘virtual aquarium’ featuring Jurassic sea giants (Tickets from €11.90).

Red It!

You may have heard of the ‘Unexpected Red Theory’. It’s the idea that adding an unexpected element of red to a room instantly elevates it and ties it together.

Inject your interiors with this punchy colour in the form of a red ornament, vase, picture frame or mirror - the colour looks particularly good with greens and blues.

For a real showstopper, how about the stunning ‘Stella’ console table by Interiors Atelier in Ranelagh, Dublin.

Their own Interiors Atelier Collection includes bar carts, bedside tables, ottomans and console tables which are all handmade in Dublin with short lead times and in eight different colourways.

See It!

Running until April 19 at the Graphic Studio Gallery in Temple Bar, Monochromatic is a fascinating exhibition which features abstract monochromatic work by 25 artists. What’s interesting about the exhibition is that the works feature just one base colour and multiple shades of that colour.

The artists have been selected from members of Print Network Ireland and come from Ireland’s four largest print studios - Graphic Studio Dublin, Black Church Print Studio, Cork Printmakers and Limerick Printmakers. Cork printmakers exhibiting at the show include Aoife Barrett, Cecilia D’Alessandro and Dominic Fee, while those from Limerick include Lara Grufferty and Maria Mollohan.

The event takes place across a massive 70-acre site in the Phoenix Park from May 30 to June 3 and tickets are available now from Ticketmaster. And the best bit? Two children go free with every full-price adult ticket.

This season, founder Tara O’Connor has partnered with female-founded Belgian brand Maison Dînette to stock its Gauguin print tablecloth in a pink and green check that just screams Springtime.

Team it with O’Connor’s new cotton napkins and velvet bows in pink or green for a beautifully coordinated look. Prices start from €28 for a set of four velvet napkins rings with a ‘Tablescape in a Box’ for six place settings priced at €120.
