Desire Lines: Irish-designed rugs, Christmas jumpers and Folláin relish
Some of what we're loving this Weekend

Interior design studio and store, Nordic Elements, has teamed up with young Irish artist Ellie Dunne to design a beautiful Swedish-made Kasthall rug.
Currently a student at NCAD, Dunne, who also happens to have Down syndrome, has previously collaborated with Cushendale, IrelandsEye and The Merrion Hotel.
This large rug costs €2,750 with Nordic Elements donating €500 from each order to the Together Academy and Down Syndrome Centre.
If that’s a little out of your price range, you could be in with a chance to win one for just €10.
The draw in aid of the two charities takes place on December 23 and tickets are available now.
Wouldn’t that be a lovely Christmas surprise?

If you’d like to shop locally by supporting independent Irish businesses then look no further than the Irish Design Collective pop-up shop in Dublin’s Powerscourt Centre.
Located on the top floor (in the old Chupi unit), the collective brings together a cornucopia of delightful designs from 17 brands including Nicki Hoyne (pictured here), PEELO, Laura Chambers, Style Ignite, Caroline Duffy, Pickled Pom Pom and GRÁ Chocolates.
Guest brands such as Styled by Sarah Rickard will also pop up until Christmas Eve.

If you know a child that’s horse-mad then this cute little sweater by Jacadi might just be the perfect Christmas jumper.
The French brand is known for its classic designs, excellent quality and dash of Parisian chic.
The Irish, family-owned Jacadi shop in Dublin is currently celebrating 30 years in business along with a new online store where you’ll find the latest AW23 collection.
Preppy chic for kids and the most adorable baby clothes — all with that Jacadi je ne sais quoi. €78.

Proudly Irish owned and managed, Folláin is a terrific family business based in the Gaeltacht of south west Cork.
If Folláin means ‘wholesome’ in Irish, then we can’t think of anything more wholesome than the fact that the company is donating 50% of the proceeds from the sales of their Christmas Preserve Gift Box to The Simon Community.
The gift box comes in at €30 and has every preserve and sweet sauce you need to get you through the festivities — from Winter Spiced Rhubarb Jam and Cranberry Sauce to Spiced Irish Apple Jelly and Caramel with Irish Cream Liqueur. A delightful gift that tastes great and does good too.

If you want to take the hard work out of gifting then Lulu O’Sullivan’s GiftsDirect company can arrange everything, from personalised messaging to wrapping and delivery.
Available all year round you can order hampers, gifts and even experience packages for all sorts of occasions. The service comes into its own at Christmas — especially if you have relatives abroad.
How about the Christmas Eve Casket (€221.50) with everything you need for the perfect Christmas Eve, or the Traditional Irish Feast (€129.99) including iconic Irish brands like Bewley’s, Barry’s, Tayto and Butlers.

In a very stylish collaboration, iconic French skiwear brand Fusalp has come together with Nespresso to design limited edition products perfect for the festive season.
Best known for their racing ski suits and skin-tight ‘fuseau’ stirrup pants, Fusalp’s fashion/tech fusion reaches beyond the slopes through collaborations with the likes of Pucci and Crosby Studios.
This combination of style and performance makes Fusalp the perfect brand to collaborate with Nespresso on their range of festive coffees and accessories.
Special blends such as Festive Black Espresso and Frosted Caramel Nut Flavoured have been created and are presented in sleek festive packaging, while the Barista Festive Glasses and Nomad Travel Mug embody Alpine chic with Fusalp’s signature colours and diamond smock pattern.
Available at the Nespresso Boutique on Duke Street, Dublin 2.

Best known as an accessories designer and milliner, Margaret O’Connor is also an artist and DJ.
Her hats and accessories are featured as part of this year’s Brown Thomas prestigious CREATE project and her designs are stocked in the National Gallery of Ireland and at the Hugh Lane Gallery.
Fans love her necklaces which feature expressions like ‘Chancer’, ‘Bold’, ‘Culchie’ and ‘Deadly’, her headwear has adorned a host of famous heads including those of Kate Moss, Debbie Harry and Lady Gaga and she even has her own Curator Paints paint colour.
Check out her website for eye-popping new upcycled lamps as well as colourful bags and wallets.
