In pictures: Ruth Negga and Maura Higgins among red carpet guests at Cannes Film Fest

Irish actress Ruth Negga, who is serving on the jury at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, appeared alongside a number of international film stars at the festival's opening ceremony on Tuesday.
Negga attended the opening ceremony and premiere of the film at the 79th Cannes Film Festival alongside Isaach de Bankole, Chloe Zhao, Demi Moore, Park Chan-wook and Stellan Skarsgard.
The Irish-Ethiopian actress attended the red carpet wearing a green and black tassel dress.
Standing alongside her on the red carpet was the Cannes feature films jury president, South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook, known for and as well as director Chloe Zhao and star Stellan Skarsgard.
Chilean writer and director Diego Cespedes also smiled alongside his fellow jurors as well as Belgian filmmaker Laura Wandel and Scottish writer Paul Laverty.
Also appearing on the red carpet were reality TV star Maura Higgins, who wore a black and white gown, Demi Moore, who wore a silver sequin strapless corset gown paired with a layered diamond necklace, and actor Isaach De Bankolé, who was photographed in a navy one-piece suit with a brimless gold cap.
Other stars in attendance included star Elijah Wood, who wore a black tuxedo and was joined by his wife, Danish film producer Mette-Marie Kongsved, who wore a red halter neck gown.
The red carpet was also graced by filmmaker Sir Peter Jackson, model Heidi Klum, and star Dame Joan Collins who wore a white ruffle gown.
Meanwhile, Hollywood star Jane Fonda wore a black long-sleeve sequin gown as she smiled at photographers while actor Lucas Bravo posed in a navy suit which was paired with a matching burgundy shirt and tie.
actor James Franco also smiled for photographs next to his partner, actress Izabel Pakzad.
Over the course of 12 days, from Tuesday, May 12 until Saturday, May 23, the festival will welcome stars and industry professionals from around the world to showcase and preview a string of international films.
