Trend of the week: Fringe

Fringe gets the high fashion treatment, writes Annmarie O’Connor.

INSPIRATION

If the spirit of the 70s sums up spring/summer 15, then fringe is its defining detail.

Although the frontier and festival references of warmer weather still abide, the mood is more luxe with bacchanalia front and centre. From shredded leather to tiered sequin strands; not forgetting

louche jewel tassels, its more a case of F Scott Fitzgerald meets the Hollywood Hills than braving the great outdoors (concert or otherwise).

STYLE NOTES

DO DETAIL: Do fringe lite with a bag, earrings or killer heel.

HEM IT IN: A hint of dress hem fringing gives a nod to the 20s or 70s – whichever your style preference.

EDGE IT OUT: Sides of trousers, shirt sleeves, waistbands – it’s all about giving simple separates that bit of an edge.

CREATE MOVEMENT: Swish, swish, swish: dynamic dressing is more than a catchphrase; it’s a literal movement!
