Street trend: Charlotte Cargin

What are you wearing?

Today, I’m wearing a wool, crepe ‘Lilly’ jacket (€335) and full tweed skirt (€345) — both from Charlotte and Jane; my mother’s old leather belt, vintage leather shoes, from London’s Portobello market (£25), a vintage crocodile skin bag, from Cork’s Miss Daisy Blue (€25), and Prada sunglasses and jewellery, picked up here, there and everywhere.

Describe your style in three words?

Classic, vibrant, well-made.

How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning?

Three minutes. I have two young children and a business to run — there’s little time for me!

Fashion or function — which word best describes your attitude to clothes and why?

Function, as they not only feel comfortable, but I feel really great in what I wear, on every level. I mostly wear clothes we have designed and had made, and so they are 100% me and made for me to fit beautifully, in colours, fabrics and colours I adore and have chosen.

What’s your biggest source of style inspiration?

The Irish landscape. The colours and textures inspire hugely and from them we design tweeds, which are woven at Kerry Woolen Mills and made into our clothes.

Who or what is Ireland’s greatest undiscovered gem?

My daughter, Eliza — just you watch, she’s only two, but unbelievably creative. She picks out her outfits in the morning and has an incredible gift for colours and styling already; she’ll be leading the way one day!

Why does your style/outfit work?

It fits me beautifully and I feel so comfortable in it, because every part of it is a perfect reflection of me.
