Trend of the week: Heidi Higgins

Award winning designer Heidi Higgins continues to wow the style set with her eponymous womenswear label. Having graduated from NCAD in 2008, the Laois-based business woman bought her brand of ladylike glam to the market in just under one year. Now boasting 10 collections to her name, Higgins continues to build on her loyal customer base, providing style solutions that are both confident and contemporary with a scintilla of coquetry.

Autumn/winter 2014 builds on Higgins’ signature elegance with a collection of failsafe a.m. to p.m. wardrobe heroes. Fit and femininity are paramount to the label’s ethos with delicious fabrics like wool, tweed and silk offeset by satin, sequin and lace trim. Expect a subtle nod to catwalk trends with floral accents, micro peplums and uncompromising hues. Divine.

It’s what’s on the outside that counts. Invest in the ‘Deborah’ coat for a/w 14 for a dash of laissez-faire luxe.

Looking for a transseasonal staple? Try the ‘Violetta’ dress: its jersey material and three-quarter sleeves make it easy-to-wear and the perfect layering base.

Go Gallic with the ‘Clarina’ boucle jacket – perfect with anything from an LBD and pearls to jeans and a silk top.

Pear-shaped? The ‘Kenzi’ and ‘Mona’ dresses keep the visual interest on the top half while slimming below the waist with classic black.
