Birkenstocks? Sliders? Really?
Yes, really. Since Giambatista Valli revived the treehugger staple back in 2012 (updated in patent gold and grommets), comfy has become the new normal. Let’s not forget Phoebe Philo’s ‘furkenstock’ – a 2013 runway favourite. Since then the classic Birkenstock in ‘Arizona’ two strap and ‘Gizeh’ toe post styles have experienced a renaissance with celebrities from Mary Kate Olsen to Julieanne Moore co-opting the trend.
Fast forward to the spring/summer and autumn/winter 14 runways and it looks like the fashion world is experiencing its own Californication.
Crisp white shirt and leather skirt for off-duty chic.
Blazer, t-shirt and slouchy trouser combo – a street style favourite.
Killer pedicure. Keep those tootsies in good nick with slick obsidian nail varnie.
An air of nonchalance. It’s all about a relaxed West Coat attitude.
