Film and TV writers authorise strike over pay and other issues

Unionised film and TV writers have voted overwhelmingly to give their leaders the authority to call a strike if they are unable to reach an agreement on a new contract.
In an email to members on Monday, the negotiating committee of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) said nearly 98% of the 9,218 votes were cast to authorise the strike, with nearly 79% of guild members voting.
