MCD optimistic coronavirus restrictions will be lifted before Electric Picnic

The head of MCD has said he remains optimistic this year's Electric Picnic will go ahead.

A record 70,000 people are due to attend the sold-out festival in Laois on the first weekend of September.

Denis Desmond has said he is hopeful the restrictions will be lifted in time.

However, he said it will be September before the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin reopens, according to the Irish Times.
