Clannad musician Padraig Duggan dies aged 67

Sad news for Clannad fans today as Padraig Duggan has died aged 67 today.

The musician, who was the founding member of the band passed away in Blanchardstown Hospital following a recurring illness.

Padraig is an uncle to Enya and Moya Brennan, who both previously featured in the band.

Moya herself took to Twitter to share the sad news of her uncle's death.

The band, who hail from Co. Donegal, are famous for their blend of folk rock, traditional Irish, Celtic and new-age music and were the first act to perform as gaeilge on BBC’s Top of the Pops.

Padraig is survived by wife Jean and his funeral will take place on Thursday.
