Here’s how you check your Oscar into airport security
"Any liquids, iPad, computer, sir?"
"No, just my Oscar…"
Well, we can only imagine that’s how the conversation went between László Nemes, winner of the 2016 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and airport security staff as he boarded his plane back to Hungary today.
The award-winner took to Facebook to post a picture of the famous statue casually sitting in a plastic bin as his fellow passengers around him check in their jackets, belts and shoes.
“Airport security, no exceptions,” he captioned the photo.
Well, there was no way he was fitting it into a zip-lock plastic bag.
The Hungarian director received the award for Son of Saul, a Holocaust drama set during World War II at the Auschwitz concentration camp.
The film also won the Golden Globe for the same category, but that probably didn’t cause as much as a fuss at the gate.
