There is no denying the popularity of Boyband One Direction but the extent of the their fan-dom is almost beyond comprehension.

A total of 700 million tweets relating to One Direction has been sent so far this year.

Not surprisingly, Harry Styles (@Harry_Styles) received the most tweets from fans with 120 million posts sent in his direction over the past 10 months.

Adorable Irish fella Niall Horan (@NiallOfficial) came in second place with a whopping 85 million tweets sent to the young popstar and former member Zayn Malik came in close third place with 80 million Twitter posts.

A number of One Direction moments in history spiked huge surges of communication on the Twittersphere that threatened to break the internet.

On March 25, when Zayn Malik announced he was leaving the band, a total of 18.7 million cybersphere posts were sent as fans dealt with their emotions.

Another big moment for the One Direction fans occurred when ‘Drag Me Down’ was released, the first single the boys released as a foursome.

A total of 13.1 million tweets were sent to celebrate and acknowledge this moment while another 10.5 million tweets were sent when it was announced that Zayn Malik signed a solo deal.
