YouTube family the Bratayleys announce death of 13-year-old son

The 13-year-old son of the popular YouTube family the Bratayleys has died.

Caleb Logan - the eldest of the family - passed away of natural causes, the family confirmed on Instagram.

"Yesterday at 7:08PM Caleb Logan Bratayley passed away of natural causes. This has come as a shock to all of us," the caption read.

"Words cannot describe how much we will miss him. His incredibly funny, loving and wonderful spirit made us all fall in love with him as a YouTuber, friend, brother and son”.

The post continued: “We know you tune in to watch each day and eagerly anticipate new videos, but ask that you bear with us while we deal with this tragedy as a family. Please help us honour our, baked potato”.

Caleb, along with his sisters Annie (11) and Hayley (7), have more than a million subscribers on YouTube for vlogging their day-to-day lives.

Unlike most other YouTube families, the Bratayley’s children do most of the vlogging and their mother is mostly featured behind the scenes.

Shortly after the family broke the sad and shocking news on their official Instagram account, they uploaded the video Caleb made the day before he died.

It was titled ‘Dear Future Self’.

At the end of the video, the end slate reads: "Unfortunately Caleb passed away the day after this video was made.

"He will never get to meet his future self. None of us will and we are very sad because he would have been great.

"Please kiss your kids and tell them you love them every day. You never know what day will be their last."

Fans and friends have posted their tributes on social media.

Including a post from the Walt Disney-owned digital-media company, Maker Studios who help manage the family.

In a statement, the studio mourned the loss of the teenager.

“We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of Caleb from Bratayley,” it read.

“Our love, support, thoughts and prayers are with the Bratayley family.”
