RTE's Louise McSharry weds a year to the day of cancer diagnosis
On August 20, 2014, 2FM radio presenter Louise McSharry was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, cancer of the white blood cells.
On August 20, 2015, she began her wedding celebrations to marry partner, Gordon Spierin in a ceremony in Co Cork.
“What a difference a year makes,” she tweeted.
This day last year I was diagnosed with cancer. Today I'm starting my wedding celebrations. What a difference a year makes.

At the time of her diagnosis, Louise said that she had been ill over the space of a few months.
She had her appendix removed the previous December, which in turn had developed an abscess, and she lost her appetite afterwards as well and felt “a bit strange”.
The DJ also claimed she had trouble sleeping and her periods stopped, but added that she was determined to remain positive and described herself as “very lucky” saying “I have genuinely no doubt I’m going to be fine”.
And of course what better way to celebrate her remission but by watching Magic Mike XXL on repeat, a year later, on the morning of your wedding.
We like your style Louise.
Sure what else would I be doing the morning of my wedding but watching this on repeat? https://t.co/RuAVCrwMuK

After the ceremony, the couple celebrated in the Ballinacurra House Hotel in Kinsale, a location famous for ‘hiding’ Michael Jackson and his kids as they holidayed in Ireland in 2006.
Huge congrats to our @louisemcsharry who got married today. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/mQGTW8x1cZ

But it was all work and no play for the 31 year old, as she couldn’t keep away from the decks.
So @louisemcsharry is currently DJing her own wedding. Set list includes Riverdance, Flawless and a Late Late Show remix

One of the day's highlights she later tweeted.
The couple have now set off on their honeymoon, but not after your standard egg mcmuffin and a brief Ryanair baggage panic.
The relief of realising that yes, you did splurge and get the 20kg bag and not the 15kg bag for your Ryanair flight.
