Sam Smith shares anti-Sam Smith Instagram account to highlight homophobic abuse
Sam Smith has taken to his social media account to stand his ground against homophobic abuse.
The ‘Stay with Me’ star post a screenshot of an account under the name of 'Gay Sam Smith'.
"We hate f***** Smith. There is a f**, his name is Sam. When he's on I like to cry. He is gay but that's okay, we can all make fun of him," reads the bio.
Sam, who has been openly gay throughout his career, then went to explain that he hasn’t been offended by the account but wanted to show that homophobia is still present in today’s society.
"This genuinely doesn't offend me, coz I'm way too thick skinned when it comes to this kind of sh*t," he wrote.
" I just wanted to share this with everyone, so you can see how homophobia is still in our society!"
Since then, the account has been removed from the picture sharing site, but not before it clocked up a whopping five followers.
Fans of the singer have left comments of support on the post.
“What a sad sad person, if you only can get joy in your life by spreading hate and trying to upset people because of who they are, then you should seek help and get a life,” one fan wrote.
