Imelda May splits from husband Darrel Higham

Irish singer Imelda May has announced she and her husband Darrel Higham have split up.

May and Higham have been married for 13 years and have one daughter together, Violet, who was born in 2012.

The Mayhem singer confirmed the split on her Facebook page stating she was “very sad”, but that the couple were “making the right decision for us and our daughter”.

She went onto say she was aware that reports of the split were going to hit today’s papers and she thought she should put something on her Facebook to “dispel any bad rumours.”

May will return to Irish screens on July 24 for her RTÉ One music show The Imelda May Show.
