Atticus Finch reimagined as racist in Mockingbird follow-up

Readers of the long-awaited sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird, which comes out tomorrow, are in for a surprise in the shape of the changing views of Atticus Finch.

A review of Harper Lee's novel Go Set a Watchman has revealed the main character Finch is portrayed as a racist bigot in his later life, who opposes the Supreme Court’s efforts to impose integrated education and equal voting rights in the south.
