Taylor Swift reveals her mother has been diagnosed with cancer

Pop sensation Taylor Swift has revealed in a heartfelt tumblr post that her mom has been recently diagnosed with cancer.

In the post Taylor writes about how she asked her mom to get screened for any health issues as a Christmas present to her last year, turns out it was the Christmas present that saved her life.

“The results came in, and I’m saddened to tell you that my mom has been diagnosed with cancer. I’d like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know,” she said before tweeting the post to her 55m fans.

Addressing her fans and speaking for her mother, Swift wrote, “She wanted you to know why she may not be at as many shows this tour. She’s got an important battle to fight.”

The singer then also encouraged her followers to tell their parents to get checked out in the hope that it could lead to an earlier diagnosis or just for their own “peace of mind”.

She ended her post by thanking her dedicated fans for their support.

“Thank you for caring about my family so much that she would want me to share this information with you,” she wrote.

“I hope and pray that you never get news like this.”
