Competition calls on public to make Ireland's best radio jingle
Families, local sports clubs, schools, workplaces have been called on to become “a legend in their own ad break” with the launch of a new competition this week.
A €7,000 prize fund is on offer for the new Le Crunch Apples 7G Jingle contest.
Over the course of the next four weeks, some of the best entries will be used on air on The Dermot & Dave Show on Today FM, while the judges start a selection process that will see five lucky people reach the national final on Friday, March 27.
Among the judges this year will be stand-up comedian Fred Cooke and Today FM’s Head of Production, Sinead Buckley.
“This is going to be a real fun competition and we know our Today FM listeners are going to have a ball with it,” said Dermot Whelan of the Dermot & Dave Show.
“The best thing is, it's open to everybody.”
The competition begins on Monday February 23 on The Dermot & Dave Show on Today FM.
Over the course of the following four weeks, some of the best entries will be used on air while the judges start a selection process that will see five lucky people reach the national final on Friday March 27.
Of the final five contestants, two will be chosen by public vote and three chosen by our panel of judges.
They will then be invited with guests to the national final where they will perform their jingle live on air to over 120,000 Dermot & Dave Show listeners!
The public vote will open on March 16 and close at midnight Thursday March 20.
The overall winner of the competition will walk away with €5000, while the four runner-ups will each receive €500.
Contestants submit it online through the competition website.
“We are delighted to launch another great competition that encourages artistic talent in Ireland,” said Sandrine Gaborieau, Le Crunch Apples marketing director.
“Over the last number of years, we have helped discover some amazing young talent across the country and had a lot of fun doing so.”
