WATCH: Celebrities stay silent for Ebola awareness

Some of the world's biggest movie and music stars have taken a vow of silence to highlight the devastating effects of the Ebola epidemic.

Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman, Ben Affleck and Will Ferrell are among the celebrities who appear in this completely silent video for singer Bono's ONE Campaign.

Bono is still currently still in hospital after suffering series injuries from a cycling accident.

In the video posted today, the celebs stare silently into a camera to illustrate that they're still waiting for world leaders to fight Ebola, which has killed more than 5,000 people in the west African countries of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia.

Viewers of the video are encouraged to sign a petition demanding global leaders take urgent action to combat the spread of the disease.

Also appearing in the video are Ebola health workers Louise Gaye and Dr. J Soka Moses and African musicians Fally Ipupa, Angélique Kidjo, and Ice Prince.

The ONE Campaign has released the video alongside an interactive "Ebola Response Tracker" which shows how much money countries have pledged, how much has actually been disbursed, and how many health workers and other contributions have been sent to affected countries.
