Grohl: The Foo Fighters haven't been invited to Glastonbury

Dave Grohl insists Foo Fighters haven't been asked to play Glastonbury.

The 'Walk' rockers are favourites to headline the world-famous music event next summer after organiser Emily Eavis admitted she would "love" to have them perform, but the singer claims he hasn't received a call yet.

He said: "She hasn't called - I have not gotten the call yet. The Foo Fighters haven't been there since 1998, so er... and that's a fun festival."

While they may not be confirmed for the festival, which takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England from June 24-28, they will be in the UK shortly before as they have just announced new tour dates for May and June next year.

Grohl yesterday announced the band will play Ireland's Slane Castle in May 2015. The 'Learn to Fly' hitmakers kick off their run of UK shows the same week, with performances at Sunderland on May 25, Manchester on May 27, London on June 19 and 20 and Edinburgh on June 23.

Iggy Pop and Royal Blood will support on selected tour dates still to be confirmed.

Tickets go on pre-sale November 19 and on general sale at 10am on November 21.
