Report: Gately family to hire private investigator to investigate death

Stephen Gately's family are reportedly hiring a private investigator for a fresh probe into the tragedy, five years on from his death.

The Irish Sun on Sunday reports that the move comes as the family battle the singer's husband Andrew Cowles over Gately's €2m estate.

The 33-year-old Dubliner was found slumped on a couch while holidaying in Majorca in October 2009.

Officials ruled that Stephen had died from an undetected heart condition.

The family has said that neither Andrew, nor a man called Georgi who was there the night Stephen died, have ever fully explained what happened.
