It is December 8, which means many things, it is 16 days from Christmas and more importantly it is culchie shopping day.

Culchie shopping day is the day when typically people from the country travel to the cities of Ireland to do their Christmas shopping.

This is a steadfast tradition that has stood the test of time, and not everyone is impressed as Twitter has shown…

Of course there are some retail staff non-too-impressed with the increased footfall.

There are a few proud culchies apt at social media who decided to share their joy for their special day with the internet.

And finally there was some smart-alecs who took the opportunity to find humour in the age-old event.
