BBC Breakfast made a bit of a blunder with one of their video clips

The hosts of BBC Breakfast were left a bit red-faced this morning after the show mistakenly aired a clip of the gorilla that escaped from London Zoo yesterday instead of Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Host Naga Munchetty was letting their viewers know that they would be talking to the SNP leader later in the programme when footage of Kumbuka the gorilla came up on the screen.

Her co-presenter Charlie Stayt apologised immediately for the gaffe before the two of them stifled a chuckle.

He said: "I’m sorry, we have very clearly run the wrong pictures over that particular sequence, my apologies there.

"The story we will be talking about later, as you probably guessed by the pictures, is about the escaped gorilla at London Zoo."

The silverback gorilla had got out of its den at around 5.15pm yesterday evening, but was fortunately returned to its enclosure about an hour later after being tranquillised.
