College student in trouble after renting college dorm room on Airbnb
Boston student Jack Worth thought he had found a way to make himself a quick buck but soon landed himself in trouble with his college for his money making plan.
The student is facing disciplinary action from his college for renting out his dorm.
Jack Worth says he rented his dorm three times in early January.
The room was listed on Airbnb for two weeks before school officials made him take it down as it was against school regulations to rent out his room.
Worth is now in hot water with the college but he’s gotten lots of support on social media - with the launch of a "Free Jack Worth" hashtag.
There is even a Change.org petition that has gathered a total of 470 signatures as of Thursday morning.

Maybe Jack Worth wouldn't have had to rent out his dorm room if college weren't so ludicrously expensive. #FreeJackWorth

Jack Worth brings up an excellent point about the expense of college and what some people must do to get an education. #freejackworth

never let it be said that @EmersonCollege students aren't #resourceful - #college is #expensive #freejackworthhttps://t.co/GLbbmJrNVp

Even the CEO of Airbnb got involved in the debate offering his support to Jack Worth comparing his initiative to that of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
@hipstertrash57 don’t forget, dorm-room businesses were forbidden at Harvard; then Facebook was born on campus. Great ideas eventually win.

But not everyone was in favour of his actions…
#FreeJackWorth makes me so mad as an @EmersonCollege alumnus and former RA. That was dangerous to other residents. Not how dorms work. Lord.

Wonder what this #freejackworth thing is about...*checks Internet* oh, entitlement, ignorance, and stupidity from a white dude. Gotcha.
