Check out The Sunday Game theme as you’ve never heard it before

During the summer in most Irish homes it is only natural to hear the opening notes of James Last’s Jägerlatein sounding through the house at the weekend.
Check out The Sunday Game theme as you’ve never heard it before

Jägerlatein is the long serving theme music for RTÉ’s coverage of live GAA games and the highlights show The Sunday Game, and it’s fair to say the instrumental version of the tune is pretty much burned into the Irish consciousness at this stage.

For those that have (somehow) forgotten here’s the opening for last season’s Sunday Game.

We’re not the only country where the Jägerlatein is popular it seems, as sports journalist and breakingnews.ie contributor Will Downing explained on Twitter yesterday.

The tune also has German and Spanish versions with added lyrics!

After hearing these we do wonder what lyrics Irish people could put to the song…

Maybe it’s best left the way it is!

DA, DA, DA da da da .....
