And it's not just here in Ireland. In Australia, comedian Charlie Pickering took a segment of his show The Weeklyto illustrate just how ridiculous the entire "motorists v cyclists" stories are.

Warning: There's rude language in this video. But in the endearing Australian sense.

"As a middle-class hetero male, it's not often I get to feel like a hard-done-by minority. That's why I love cycling!" he begins.

From Top Gear to radio call-ins, the segment is pure genius, and relatable to anyone who's ever tried to commute to work on two wheels - or had a spandex-clad rider almost mow you down.

Just remember, cyclists - you're not as important as dogs. That's the moral of this story.

In all seriousness, though, five cyclists have been killed in 2015 so far. Let's all be careful out there and get along. Remember- every bicycle on the road is one less car causing traffic jams. Be nice.
