Poll: Where do Man United fans want Rooney to play?

Statistics don’t explain everything but with Manchester United struggling for pace up front, as Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao fail to impress, fans are clamouring for captain Wayne Rooney to be returned to his normal position.

Rooney is not making much of an impact in a deep lying midfield role and United are stuggling to click and play the attacking football expected of them.

So far in 2015, Rooney has yet to register a shot on target for the Reds and despite being third in United's all-time greatest scorers' list he failed to have a touch in the opposition box during last weekend's Premier League tie against West Ham United.

United manager Louis van Gaal inists that Rooney is his best option in the midfield anchor role, despite new big-money signing Ander Herrera, who can play in that position, sitting on the bench unless called upon to cover injuries.

Rooney has twice as many goals playing as a striker in less games (5 goals in 9) than as a midfielder this season (3 goals in 11).

Hopefully we all hope to see @WayneRooney in a more advanced role tonight.No doubt he can play in midfield but his spark & goals r needed.
