Our Facebook post was prompted by a new campaign organised by the Better Together campaign who have asked the Irish people to come up with a slogan for Ireland.
The Better Together group aim to build support for community groups and charitable organisations.
After posting the story on our Facebook page, we received a number of responses ranging from the bizarre to the brilliant.
Variations of "Sure, tis grand" were by far the most popular but here are some of our favourites.
"A beautiful little country if we could only roof it."
"Come to Ireland where the water is nearly as dear as the beer."
"Broke but Brave."
"Historic, enduring, evolving, energetic. enquirying, welcoming, cultural and fun."
"If we dont talk about it. it did not happen."
"Tradition, culture and spirit."
"Do it for the Craic."
"We Want Our Country Back"
"Ireland - where the grass is always greener."
"I will, yeah."
"Grand soft day, thank God!"
