Ireland's call: Your top 10 Facebook responses to the 'motto for Ireland' challenge

From the profound to the preposterous. Here are some of the best responses we got on our Facebook post highlighting the campaign seeking a ’motto for Ireland’.

Our Facebook post was prompted by a new campaign organised by the Better Together campaign who have asked the Irish people to come up with a slogan for Ireland.

The Better Together group aim to build support for community groups and charitable organisations.

After posting the story on our Facebook page, we received a number of responses ranging from the bizarre to the brilliant.

Variations of "Sure, tis grand" were by far the most popular but here are some of our favourites.
