Mayo’s All-Ireland winning footballers made a surprise appearance alongside The Saw Doctors at the Electric Picnic this Sunday evening.

The players joined the band, whose members Leo Moran and Davy Carton wrote The Green and Red of Mayo, on the Main Stage for a rousing rendition of the song, along with other band hits such as N17.

This summer, Mayo finally ended their 75-year wait to lift the Sam Maguire Cup.

In July, Mayo defeated Kerry 1-20 to 1-17 at Croke Park to win their first All-Ireland senior football title since 1951.

The Green and Red of Mayo, first released in 1992, went on to reach number one in the Irish charts this summer, for the first time since its release. It was back in the top spot on Spotify on Sunday evening.
