Maya Jama has given the first bombshells the “secret” task of dumping one boy and one girl from the villa “for any reason” they like.
The ITV reality dating show returned to screens on Monday evening with 12 eager singletons, and two bombshells, entering the villa.
The episode ended with a twist which saw Jama task the two latecomers, professional footballer George, 28, and recruitment consultant Yasmin, 23, with the “very important job” of sending home two contestants in 24 hours.
Meeting the bombshells the morning after the first six couples were formed, she told them: “You’re probably wondering why I’m here and meeting you at the front.
“Well, it was a wild night in there last night and the islanders had a bit of a party game.
“They all coupled up, but now the two of you have a very important job to do, which you must keep to yourselves.
“In 24 hours, one girl and one boy will be dumped, and that decision will be down to both of you.”
The host explained that the pair did not have any restrictions on who to dump, however, the one condition was that they cannot tell any of the islanders about the task.
Jama added: “You can dump anyone for any reason. Will you get rid of your biggest competition? Will you dump a game player who’s not here for love, or will it be someone who you’re just not vibing with?
“What you’re about to do will rock the villa. They are not going to see this coming.
“Remember, on with big decisions come big consequences. Off you go. And remember, this is our little secret. Let the games begin.”
Earlier on in the episode, the islanders got to know one another before Jama strutted in in a white co-ord to introduce an icebreaker which involved taking a sip of their drink if they agreed with a statement she read out, including “take a sip if you think any of the boys are handsome”.
They were then asked to reveal their answers.
Following the game, Jama asked the contestants to talk through and work out who they wanted to couple up with, asking them whether they would “play it safe” or step out of their “comfort zone”.
After some deliberation, the first six couples were formed, with model Samraj, 25, paired with student Mica, 21, while fashion business owner Jasmine, 27, coupled up with business owner Lorenzo, 28.
Meanwhile property broker Aidan, 23, shared a bed with videographer Ellie, 24, while nurse Angelista, 24, coupled up with West End performer Ope, 27.
Primary school teacher Sean, 25, was paired up with detective Lola, 25, and Robyn, 21, was paired with electrician Samuel, 25.
The episode also saw the first kiss of the season after Aidan asked Ellie, to which she offered him a peck.
Love Island returns on Tuesday at 9pm on Virgin Media Play and Virgin Media Two.
