star Susan Boyle has released her surprise new musical collaboration, and promised fans that she is “not done yet”.
The announcement comes days after the Scottish singer, 65, teased her comeback with photos on social media showing her glamorous new look – a sleek blonde bob, sunglasses and a long, brown fur coat.
After revealing her “new era”, the star released the track with a pulsing club beat which differs from her usual rich, operatic sound as she teams up with ice cream brand Cornetto.
In a post to Instagram on Monday, Boyle said she has brought “two icons back for summer” as she makes her resurgence along with the jingle by Count Giovanni di Regina.
The post featured an image of Boyle flaunting her new look, wearing a velour brown tracksuit while posing in a recording studio, and she could be heard singing a pulsing remix of the classic jingle in the background.
The singer wrote that the news “Boyled over” and said the new track has been “reMAXed with the help of a Grammy award-winning dance producer” who is yet to be named.
She added: “But we’re not done yet… something special is happening Thursday #SuBoSummer.”
The star has sent fans into a frenzy over the past week following a series of social media posts hinting at her comeback, with speculation rife around her upcoming project.
The big reveal was shared to her Instagram story on Monday, with a first look giving a glimpse at Boyle in a recording studio singing about “delicious ice cream”.
The Blackburn, West Lothian-born singer rose to fame after auditioning for ITV talent show in 2009, where she stunned the audience with her rendition of from the musical
She finished in second place on the show.
Boyle has had three UK number one albums and one Top 10 single and has received two Grammy Award nominations in her almost two-decade career.
The singer also hit the headlines last year after being praised by Hollywood star Timothee Chalamet as one of his top five Britons, naming her alongside David and Victoria Beckham.
The actor, 30, made the admission while appearing on BBC Radio 4’s programme and, while referring to her audition, he said: “She dreamed big – she dreamed bigger than all of us. Who wasn’t moved by that?”
The singer later paid a musical tribute to Chalamet and wished him a happy birthday in a post to Instagram.
