Kneecap announce surprise Cork gigs to promote new Fenian album
Kneecap will play two sets in Cork in May.
Kneecap have announced two appearances for the Savoy in Cork as part of the release campaign for their new album
The Belfast rappers will play two sets at the recently re-opened venue, at 6.30pm and 9pm on Tuesday, May 26.
“This is our final intimate gig for Fenian for ye Cork feens,” Kneecap declared on their social media by way of a gig announcement.
The appearances in Cork are in association with Musiczone, the highly-respected Togher record store, and also continues the northern outfit’s association with the Good Room organisation, managers of the Savoy who’ve also been handling Kneecap’s gigs through the years on Leeside.

Billed as ‘release shows’ rather than conventional gigs, each of the two Cork events will be approximately 90 minutes long, with the trio playing live on stage for a portion of that.
Individual tickets for the shows sold out quickly, and those remaining on Thursday evening (May 7) came with a joint purchase of the new album on vinyl or CD. Tickets were available via Eventbrite.ie, and the gigs are strictly over 18s.
was released on May 1, and healthy sales through the week have the band hoping it will be the first ever Irish-language album to top the UK charts when the official positions are released on Friday, May 8.
Kneecap’s most recent Cork gigs came at the much larger City Hall venue, and the Savoy (capacity less than 600) continues a series of appearances in more intimate spaces as part of the album launch campaign.
The trio of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí then face a busy summer on the festival circuit with appearances at such events as Primavera in Barcelona, Roskilde in Denmark, and All Together Now in Co Waterford.
