Cinema: Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere

A biopic tracing the creation of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 masterpiece, Nebraska. 

Jeremy Allen White stars as the Boss when he was a young musician on the cusp of global superstardom, struggling to reconcile the pressures of success with the ghosts of his past. 

Writer/director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) oversees a stellar cast: Jeremy Strong (Succession) is Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau while Stephen Graham (Adolesence) is Bruce's dad, with whom he had a complicated relationship.

Hector Ó hEochagáin heads Down Under in a new seven-part travel series exploring life in Australia and New Zealand beyond the tourist clichés. 

Alongside his faithful cinematographer Ross ‘Rosco’ O’Callaghan, Hector meets with Irish emigrants who have built new lives in Western Australia and investigates the country’s approach to refugees and its treatment of Aboriginals.

After flying over the vast Outback, the final two episodes take place in New Zealand.

Based on the novel by Slow Horses author Mick Herron, this eight-part thriller stars Emma Thompson as private investigator Zoë Boehm, who joins forces with Sarah Tucker (Ruth Wilson) after a mysterious explosion. 

As they search for a missing neighbour, they uncover a chilling conspiracy blurring the lines between the living and the dead, drawing them deep into a web of deceit and danger.

There’s an eclectic offering at the Jazz this year. 

Playing the Opera House across the weekend are the likes of The Pharcyde, Ireland’s own Rejjie Snow and Lee Fields & The Expressions - making a welcome return to the home of the, ahem, Lee Fields. 

London saxophonist Nubya Garcia is one of the most exciting names in jazz - she plays the Everyman on Sunday, while Maverick Sabre plays two shows at Cyprus Avenue.

National Concert Hall, Dublin, Saturday, October 25 

Running from 3pm until 11pm in the myriad rooms of the NCH, Haunted Dancehall returns for its third edition after taking last year off. 

The event seeks to highlight some of the most significant and imaginative voices in contemporary electronic and experimental music today. 

The Bug presents Machine featuring Magugu, a breakout voice in contemporary grime and bass music. 

The sensational Róis, Saoirse Miller, and Elaine Howley feature among the Irish contingent. 

Shabaka and Joanne Robertson ensure the cool factor.
