Sled from 1941 film Citizen Kane sells at auction for €12.75m

Item donated by a director who was given it in 1984 as it was about to be thrown out by film studio becomes second most valuable piece of movie memorabilia

The iconic sled from Orson Welles’s 1941 classic Citizen Kane has sold for $14.75m (€12.75m) at auction.

The item therefore becomes the second most valuable piece of movie memorabilia ever sold, following last December’s sale of a pair of ruby slippers from 1939’s The Wizard of Oz for $32.5m.
