Beginner’s pluck: Comedian and podcaster Killian Sundermann

Killian Sundermann was living in Ennis when the pandemic hit, and, going mad with cabin fever, became a comedian, performing standup online.

Killian always had a big imagination.

“As a child, I was totally taken in by films, TV shows, and books.”

He also loved nature and the outdoors.

He wrote a few stories, and in transition year at school, had the chance to study creative writing.

“That was a real moment for me. It gave me the idea that you could do whatever you wanted on the page. It was amazing to me that you could be funny.”

Killian lived in New York for a few years working in bars, and as a video editor.

I joined a radical performance group called Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir.

Then it was home to Ireland where he continued as a video editor, and also taught English as a Foreign Language (TEFL).

When the pandemic hit, Killian was living in Ennis, and, going mad with cabin fever, became a comedian, performing standup online.

His videos gained a huge reaction on social media. And this led to acting and live performing, including a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe.

“And I have a podcast with friends called Young Hot Guys.”
