Cork City Hall rocked to the sound of Rory Gallagher on Sunday night for a gig attended by several generations of the legendary guitarist’s fans. Organised by Sheena Crowley of Crowley’s music store – where the late musician bought his famous Fender Stratocaster – the lineup included several musicians who played with or were influenced by Gallagher.
Among them was Gerry McAvoy - the Belfast bassist who played with Gallagher for more than 20 years - while Liam Ó Maonlaí of Hothouse Flowers was on MC duty at the Cork venue.

Acts such as Tres Hombres, Hot Guitars and Moonchild belted out a mix of Gallagher favourites and other rock tunes.
As well as paying tribute to the Corkman who died in 1995 at the age of 47, the gig is part of a campaign to secure the Stratrocaster for his hometown when it goes up for auction at Bonhams in London in October. Crowley has also created a GoFundMe campaign where fans can donate to the fund.
