Streaming: The Perfect Couple

Nicole Kidman is backed up by Irish duo Eve Hewson and Jack Reynor in this six-part murder mystery. Set in the familiar milieu of a rich family in Nantucket, the series opens with preparations for a lavish wedding underway. Everything changes with the discovery of a body in the way, and everyone becomes a suspect. This murder mystery is based on the book of the same title by American author Elin Hilderband.

Film: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 

In cinemas from September 6 

The sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 classic comes to cinemas this week – better late than never, right? The reviews are mixed. The likes of Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara reprise their roles, with additions to the cast including Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe and Danny DeVito.

Festival: Dublin Fringe Festival

The annual Dublin Fringe kicks off this Saturday, with performances in different venues across the city. From theatre, to comedy, cabaret, live art, workshops and beyond, there is something for everyone at the Fringe.

Look out for Ham Sandwiches and Discipline from September 8-11 in the Lir Academy; the Maestro & the Mosquita on September 12 in Theatre Lovett; An Evening with Wee Daniel from September 18-21 in Bewley’s Café Theatre.

Club: Swiftogeddon 

Cyprus Avenue, September 13 

The Taylor Swift nightclub returns to Cork once again. Exactly what it says on the tin, songs from Swift’s entire collection are played all night. From the hits, deep cuts, extended mixes and fan favourites, it’s the Eras tour without Swift herself. The sensation travels around the UK and Ireland and sells out most nights, with many repeat customers. This time round, there are limited tickets left for Swifties who want to take advantage.

Gig: The Love Buzz 

Connollys of Leap, September 13

This Kinsale band, who describe themselves as the scuzzy power pop princes of Ireland, make their Connollys debut next Friday, after a busy few months between playing Electric Picnic, Primavera Pro and gigs across Ireland, the UK and Germany. Tickets cost €19.50, and the band themselves are looking to organize buses from Kinsale and Cork City for anyone worried about getting back. Keep an eye on their Instagram for details.
