Singer Lisa McHugh pulls out of live show after health setback

Lisa McHugh, who had been looking forward to what was to be her first live show since her diagnosis, was forced to announce that she would not be able to perform.

Irish country music singer Lisa McHugh has cancelled her first live show in months after suffering another health setback.

Last year, the singer-songwriter shared that she had been diagnosed with a neurological disorder, which caused her to lose function in her legs.

She learned last summer that she has Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) after what she said was “an incredibly scary” and “very difficult" few weeks spent in the hospital.

She described at the time how she was unable to lift her legs and shared with fans the story of what led to her diagnosis of the incurable disorder.

McHugh, who had been looking forward to what was to be her first live show since her diagnosis, at the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny, was forced to announce that she would not be able to perform.

On Thursday, the 37-year-old shared a statement on Instagram confirming that she would not be performing with fellow country star Nathan Carter.

“Hi everyone, I’m so sorry to say that I won’t be able to perform tonight with Nathan Carter at the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny,” she wrote.

“I was admitted into hospital a couple of days ago with sepsis, but I want to reassure everyone that I’m in the right place and receiving the best care and treatment to help get things under control.

"I just need to take a little bit of time to rest and recover, but I will be absolutely fine.

“I’m so disappointed to miss out on what was meant to be my first live show back, but, I’m sure you’ll all have a fantastic night with Nathan as always! I can’t wait to see you all very soon.”

She thanked everyone for their support and understanding, saying it truly means the world to her.

“Looks like my New Year is starting in March instead,” she added.

McHugh’s post was met with messages of support and well-wishes from friends and followers.
