Concert organisers ‘working with artists and venues’ to reschedule events

Concert organisers say they are trying to reschedule all events cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

MCD Productions is “currently working with all artists and venues” to reschedule the events cancelled due to the government directive to cancel all gatherings of more than 100 people.

The directive is in place until March 29 and has resulted in the cancellation of performances by the Who (March 18) and Carlos Santana (March 29), as well as Country to Country 2020, which would have taken place last night, March 15.

A large number of smaller concerts, including Aslan, Horslips, Greg Dulli, and King Krule, have also been cancelled.

“Original tickets purchased for all affected events will remain valid for rescheduled dates which will be notified to patrons on confirmation,” MCD said in a statement.

Aiken Promotions has issued a similar statement following the cancellation of concerts from the likes of Nathan Carter and And So I Watch You From Afar.

“Aiken Promotions are currently working to reschedule dates and will provide an update for each event,” they said.

Meanwhile, the 66th annual Cork International Choral Festival has been cancelled. It was due to take place from April 29 to May 3.

The festival would have included some 5,000 choir members, including 800 travelling from overseas.
