The race for Santa to deliver presents to more than 2.1 billion children around the world by morning is on.

The likes of Australia and New Zealand, parts of China and Japan, and other countries on that side of the world have already had a visit from the man himself.

Santa is making his way from east to west and as it gets darker here, the closer he is getting.

Santa is expected to fly over Ireland sometime before midnight.

He said all the boys and girls will have to make sure they are asleep early before he can deliver some presents.

"Before we land, make sure that you're all tucked up, nice and snug in your lovely cosy beds," he said.
