Kerry woman, Jessie Buckley is in with a chance to perform at the Oscars
The Oscars shortlist were revealed yesterday outlining the contenders in nine categories, including best original song and score.
The 300-member music branch chose 15 songs from 75 entered this year, and 15 scores from an eligibility list of 170.
Included on the shortlist was ‘Glasgow’ from the movie Wild Rose, which was sung by Kerry woman, Jessie Buckley.
The 29-year-old played the lead role Rose-Lynn Harlan in the movie, a Scottish single mother who attempts to make it as a country singer in Nashville.
The list also includes Beyonce’s ‘Spirit’ from The Lion King and “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman.

Both lists will be whittled down to five each when voting for the nominations begins Jan. 2.
If chosen the song will be performed on the night, hopefully by Jessie.
Nominees will be announced January 13.
