The highly anticipated sequel to 2013's Frozen has broken the global box office record for the highest-grossing weekend for an animated film.

Frozen II made $127 million domestically and $350 million worldwide during the first three days of its theatrical release.

It is the highest opening for any Walt Disney Animation Studios release.

The first Frozen film generated $876 million while in theatres, but made $93 million in the first five days.

Frozen II was released alongside A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood and 21 Bridges.
